i am finding out that all of these guys are only interested in what has already been done. and if that's all they are interested in then whatever i don't care.

hey i went to toronto this month and i went a clinic hosted by the phenomenal bass player, Reggie Young. his performance was absolutely phenomenal. Melonie Daniels also did a vocal clinic which was truly amazing. the clinic also featured these other guys from the New York area that are not well known. but they were KILLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i just couldn't believe it myself. first it was this piano player named Garnet Walters. this crazy guitar player named Chris Morgan. and these two drummers who did a duet together named Habbert Cheeks and Kyle Scott. i cannot wait til the dvd comes out. yo if you are from the New York area do yourself a favor and check these dudes out. all i can say is seeing is believing.

1.Buddy Rich 2.Max Roach 3.Gene Krupa 4.Neil Peart 5.Mike Portnoy 6.Carter Beauford 7.John Bonham 8.Ian Paice 9.Steve Gadd.
These are "THE" top ten drummers of all time. It doesnt matter what anyone says. I may only be fifteen, but i know my drummers. Nobody ever has been or ever will be better than Buddy Rich...NO ARGUEMENTS! And the most underestimated drummer i think is Carter His skill and technique is unmatched by others. The old guys like Buddy, Krupa, and Max Roach are the god fathers of drumming. They're the ones that started it all back in the 40's and 50's. Some of my other favorites include Gar Samuelson-Megadeth, Dave Grohl, Phill Collins, Tommy Lee. And Lars Ulrich sucks! He would be nowhere if it werent for the double bass peddle and you know it. One last thing...look out for Tim Milloy. He's only 16, but in a few years you'll know who he is. He's an amazing drummer. He could be the next Ringo or Vinny!

This is my first time on the site and I have read every comment presented on this board, and I fully respect every list created. I just want to present a different perspective and possibly toss out some names that are out there, but maybe aren't as recognized as others. So far Jason, DDepp, Melly, Davon and others have made good comments, but if I could just remind us it is our responsibility as "minstrels" and not musicians to provide a positive influence and and an encouraging word to those that may not know the difference.
My All Time Top 10
1.) Buddy Rich (Buddy Rich Band) 2.) Gene Krupa (Gene Krupa Trio) 3.) Vinny Colaiuta (Karizma) 4.) Dave Weckl (Dave Weckl Band, Chick Corea, etc.) 5.) Art Blakey (The Jazz Messengers) 6.) Elvin Jones (John Coltrane) 7.) "Philly" Joe Jones (Miles Davis) 8.) Tony Williams (Miles Davis) 9.) Tommy Lee (Motley Crue) 10.) James "Jimmy" Cobb (Miles Davis)
My Top Ten Favorites (National):
1.) Khari Parker (Raphael Saddiq) 2.) Teddy Campbell (Ricky Minor) 3.) Gerald Heyward (Beyonce) 4.) Aaron Spears (Usher) 5.) ?uestlove (The Roots) 6.) George "Spanky" McCurdy (Tye Tribbett & G.A.) 7.) Jeff "Tain" Watts (Branford Marsalis) 8.) Herlin Riley (Wynton Marsalis & Lincoln Center) 9.) Calvin Rodgers (Urban Knights) 10.) Dennis Chambers (Santana)
My Top Ten Favorites (Local): 1.) Calvin Rodgers (Sweet Holy Spirit, Fred Hammond) 2.) Rexsell Hardy Jr. (God's House of All Nations, Mary J. Blige) 3.) For some reason, you can't write the word "sthingy" but that is his name, not Mike Weathers"thingy"
